Musicians invited to compete
      As part of its ongoing student outreach mission, the Ventura Music Festival will host the second annual Student Music Competition. One high school student from Ventura, Los Angeles or Santa Barbara county will be selected to play a number on stage with Latin-jazz legend Paquito D'Rivera, a ninetime Grammy award winner, on Feb. 14 at Ventura High School.

Jazz countdown on New Year's Eve
      Broadcast Architecture's "Smooth Jazz Top 20 Countdown with Allen Kepler" announces a second annual special New Year's Eve edition of the countdown, airing on approximately 40 radio stations worldwide. Hosted by Agoura Hills resident Allen Kepler, the program will air locally on Smooth Jazz radio station 94.7, The Wave, from 10 p.m. to midnight tonight, Dec. 31.
