Newly-approved Westlake Village school certifies class of nursing assistants

Fifteen nursing students have completed 185 hours of nursing training at Professional Medical Careers Institute and received their CNA (certified nursing assistant) pins on Aug. 16 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library.

The students obtained their clinical experience at Mary Health of the Sick in Newbury Park and at Thousand Oaks Healthcare Center. The graduates are eligible to take the state certification and competency examination.

Students recognized were Gina Fetman and Roxana Wolfe of Agoura Hills; Astyn Johnson of Newbury Park; Mercedez Alvarado, Amanda Castillo, Hector Domingo, Brenda Ibarra, Liliana Saldana, Marie Paulette Torres and Mary Antonette Torres of Oxnard; Angelique Nava of Santa Paula; Brianne Galik of Simi Valley; Karley Shugerman of Tarzana; Khristina Baumgartner of Thousand Oaks and Lisa Orozco of Ventura.

Professional Medical Careers Institute is a newly approved nursing school in Westlake Village.
