Oak Park schools need tax extension

We want to briefly explain what Oak Park's Measure C is for those of you who haven't had time to read up on it. It is simply a continuation of the current parcel tax we are now paying that was passed four years ago (with a resounding 81 percent yes vote by our community).

This parcel tax is now up for renewal. Measure C is quite different than the last two ballot measures that were voted on last year. Those were bond measures primarily for school repairs and technology.

Measure C is not a bond but a parcel tax that funds almost exclusively teacher salaries. Given that Sacramento is looking at colossal cuts in education funding, it is critical that Oak Park residents not let their schools deteriorate.

If the parcel tax doesn't pass, our schools will have fewer teachers, more kids per class and minimal or no enrichment classes.

Please join us by voting yes on Measure C to continue our current parcel tax and help keep our children's education and our home values strong. Our community needs your support.
