Scott Perlo becoming a rabbi

Scott Perlo
Hidden Hills resident Scott Perlo will be ordained a rabbi on May 19 at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles.

Aryeh Cohen, PhD, associate professor of rabbinic literature at American Jewish University, will present Perlo for ordination.

In addition, Perlo will receive his master's degree in rabbinic studies from the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at American Jewish University's commencement exercises on May 18, when he will also receive the David Aronson Award for Excellence in rabbinic literature.

The commence speaker will be Jack Miles, PhD, distinguished professor of English and religious studies at UC Irvine, a MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize-winning author for his book "God: A Biography."

American Jewish University established the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in 1995 as the only independent Conservative ordaining rabbinic school on the West Coast.
