Happy Mother's Day 2008
Mother's Day is May 11 and Acorn readers offer these best wishes to the greatest moms in the world

My mother-in-law is brilliant, courageous and witty. Mrs. Judith Kertzner of Long Island, N.Y., brightens our world with her warmth and intellect.

As a reading instructor, she imparted a love of reading and learning to her three grandsons: Alex, Michael and Peter. She helped the children write their first "books" and acted in their movie productions with Grandpa Len.

We are happy Judy brings us along as she soars through life with curiosity, joy and a passion for living. Karen Kertzner Calabasas

My mom would treat our families to a week in Big Bear every year. She loved the mountains and the flowers that grow there. She would happily breathe in the air for the pine scent, which she so treasured, as we climbed up the mountain, and again as we came down, bidding farewell until the next year. We miss her on our yearly Big Bear treks, remembering the joy these mountain trips gave to her and to us with her. Eileen O'Neill West Hills

There are many words that I could use to describe my mom. Some of these words include thoughtful, loving, caring, beautiful, nice, smart, helpful, empathetic, courageous and many, many more.

My mom has always been there for me when I was in need of help. She always knows how to put a smile on my face when I am feeling down. She is the definition of a best friend. I love her with all my heart and wish her a Happy Mothers Day. I love you, Mom! Sean "Seany" Siegel, 14 Agoura Hills

My mom is very special to me. She gives me strength. She builds me up. She brings me courage when I am down. My mom drives me everywhere I need to be, even if it doesn't fit in her schedule. I love my mom, and I know she loves me. Thank you, Mom, and by the way, happy birthday! Juliana Ryan Agoura Hills

My mom's the greatest. She shows kindness, incredible wisdom, compassion and love to everyone and everything. I owe her the world for always believing in me, even when I followed my own way.

But most of all, I owe her because she made me a great mommy. I truly believe that I am a great mom because of her. When people ask, "Where do you get the energy?" I reply, "I take after my mom." She has helped me through countless times, and I love her dearly. I credit her for making me a great mom of three. Robin Ann Gorelick Calabasas

Mom, who could ask for a better mother and friend? No other mother could ever come close to being as great of a mother as you. We love everything about you, from your sincerity and kindness to your ability to act just like a kid.

Our family would not be the way it is if it were not for a mother like you. With every passing day, the love and bond we have with you becomes stronger than anyone could ever imagine. Happy Mother's Day! Michael and Tracie Grossman Agoura Hills

Nama is a special name lovingly assigned to mom when she became a grandmother 22 years ago. Although this special lady is in her 70s, she's a snappy dresser, well preserved and sharp. She loves to shop and is notorious for returning most; besides eating popcorn this is how she stays thin.

She is independent, involved and forever there when needed. Nama loves unconditionally and never plays favorites. She displays a twisted sense of humor, but she finds humor in every situation. She is fun to be with and included always. She loves us. We love her. We are lucky. Cim Castellon Calabasas

My mom, Lisa, is special to me for so many reasons. She is always kind and understanding if something goes wrong. She has such high expectations of me, and that has helped me so much with school, piano, religious school and everything else that goes on in my life. She is such an amazing mom.

She supports me in everything that I do. She has gone to every performance that I have ever been in and gives me the confidence to do things that I sometimes don't even think are possible. There is so much more I wish I could say! I love you, Mommy. Marissa Mahoney, Agoura Hills

Our mom, Kayo Matsumoto, is the best mom in the universe. She is very nice to us and to everyone. She drives us to school and to all the other places we have to go, like our sports games. She always helps us with our homework, especially our school projects. In the evening, she always asks us what we want for dinner, and she usually makes our favorite foods for us.

Our mom is always kind to us, and she always lets us know how much she loves us. We love her very much, too. Lina, 7, and Ken, 9, Thompson Agoura Hills

My mom is outrageous. She can make me happy any day. My mom is a hero. She would risk her life to save me if I was in any danger. She's flexible. She can't do the splits, but she will always care for me.

She knows I love having a private driver. She is always capable of picking me up and dropping me off at places. And the best part of all is that even though she is disabled, she will always love me. She always will. Claire Matulis, 10 Oak Park

My mom is great and helpful. When I am sad she always cheers me up. She always takes me to fun places. My mom supports me in all my sports games. She's always very nice to me. She buys me yummy food to eat.

My mom always plays with me. She's really fun to be around. She gets me radical toys. I love her just as much as she loves me. And that will never change. Quinn Matulis, 7 Oak Park

My mom is very special to me. Every day she helps me and my family with many things. She is a real hardworking mom. Every morning she gets up at 5:30 a.m., gets ready for the day; she packs me and my brother lunches for school, and then drives to work (she's a kindergarten school teacher).

Then after all that hard work at school, she still comes home happy and in a good mood and then makes our family some dinner. My mom is the most caring mom in the whole world even when she is busy. Zoe Powers, 13 Agoura Hills

Here is the submission for my 14-month-old daughter whose mom had a brain tumor while six months pregnant. They are both fine now.

Dear Mom, I know you were scared to have me and that the pregnancy wasn't easy, but we both survived brain surgery, radiation and an early delivery date. Look at us now and how much fun we are having together. I just pray that I get your heart and strong will to survive because you are a true inspiration to me.

Thank you for being so loving, caring and most of all, my best friend. Mom, you are the best, and thanks for everything you have and will do for me. I love you. Written on behalf of Brianna Blum, 14 months Oak Park

Who loves us more than anyone in the world? Who gives us lots of hugs and kisses which make us feel better? Who teaches us right from wrong? Who plays with us? Who helps us be the best we can be? Who is so gentle, sweet and kind? Who bakes the best cookies, cakes and brownies? Who makes each day easier for us? Who do we love more than anyone? Who is the most important person in our lives?

I'll tell you who! It's our mom. Mom, thanks for being so wonderful and always being there for us. Happy Mother's Day! We love you. Justin and Paige Torres Calabasas

Dear Mother, You have never given up on me, and I will never give up on you. You have always been there for me, and I will always be there for you. I know you never have a second to spare because of me, but I hope you have time to spare to read this:

Roses are red, violets are blue, these flowers are beautiful, just like you!

You are always helping me through my troubles and telling me what to do. At times I have upset you, so please accept my apology. Rishi Sharma, 10 Agoura Hills

Mom, I love you so much and can't express in 100 words what you mean to me. You're always there when I cry or need help. If I can't figure something out I can count on you. I hate when you leave for business trips. It seems like you're gone for weeks when you leave.

I don't always show how much I really do love you because I love you so much I can't even show all of it. Thank you so much for everything, Mom! Haley Dworsky Agoura Hills

My mother's lifelong dream was to retire to a semirural area where the wildlife was abundant and the pace of life was slow. When she retired, she bought a beautiful home on the Wapsi River in Eastern Iowa where we grew up.

About a year after she remodeled the home, my wife and I got unexpectedly pregnant. When she came out to visit the new addition to our family, she immediately fell in love and bonded with little Nick. She understood that we had no family close by and that we needed help raising the little guy.

Two months later she sacrificed her dream by selling her home and moving to California to help raise her grandson. Today, her and her sister LuLu are a very important part of our lives. Thank you, Mom/ Grandma, we love you! Dennis Burns Agoura Hills

My mother's name is Terry Whitney. I became a mother this year. It is only now that I can truly appreciate my own mother. I now better understand the complexity of motherhood- the pure, exhilarating joy that my mother always speaks of and also the exhausting, endless work and self-sacrifice that are required.

My hope is that my son will feel about me the way I feel about my mother. Her love is pure and unending. She loves me in a way that teaches me how to love others. Though her gifts to me are many, this is the most precious because it makes my life the wonderful blessing that it is. Samantha Bookman Agoura Hills

Our mother is special because she loves us very much. She makes us breakfast and helps with our homework. At night, she reads us stories and sleeps with us until we feel safe. Happy Mother's Day. We love you. Caleb, 6, and Noah Siff, 3 Oak Park

My mom really cares about me. I love horses, and she bought me a wonderful pony.

Whenever I am sick my mom will spend the day with me and do everything she can to help me feel better. One time I was so sick I was 104 degrees. My mom stayed home with me until I was completely better. I really love my mom.

I love animals, and so do my dad, brother and sister. My mom's friend breeds whippet dogs and last month we got two whippets. One is named Rocket, and one is named Biscuit.

As you can see my mom listens to us and is the best mom in the world. Jodie Camberg, 8 Calabasas

Whenever I am upset my mom will practically bend over backwards

to see me smile. She would drive across the country if we needed her.

She is an amazing cook who has created tons of delicious recipes. She and my dad take us on amazing vacations. She loves to have fun, whether it is parasailing in Mexico or going down Splash Mountain in Disneyland.

I love her, and so does all of her family. She is the best mom out there, and I hope that when I grow up I can be as great a mom as she is. Madelynn Taras, 12 Agoura Hills

We know there are a lot of great mothers in the world. But our mother, Julie Hasting, is the best of them all. She cares for us. She feeds us. She tucks us in at night. She takes care of our cuts and bruises and wipes away our tears. She is our biggest fan when we play sports.

Most of all she loves us. But we love her more. We would not trade her for anything in the world. She is simply the best. Justin and Brandon Hasting Agoura Hills

Our mom is the best because she finds all of our lost things, especially library books. And she likes to take us out to fun places and plan special holiday traditions. She is so kind to give us more chances even when we don't do things the right way at first (nobody's perfect). She loves us from the bottom of the deepest ocean and to the top of the highest mountains. She loves us all the way to the moon and back. We love you, Mom! Alina and Elisha Tong Oak Park

My mommy is special because she loves me. She takes care of me when I am sick and sad. She is a good cook, and gives me treats and buys me Webkinz. She is special because she is my mommy. Happy Mother's Day, Mommy! Matthew Levine, 5 Agoura Hills My mom is really special because she is sweet, funny and loving and also because she loves me. I love to laugh with you

You are the funniest mommy in the whole world. Alex G., 3 Oak Park

A few words that describe my mom are funny, sweet, caring, artistic, creative, wonderful, pretty, smart, loving, kind, athletic and awesome. My mom is the best mom ever.

My mom is always there to take me to dance, my guitar lessons and everywhere else. She makes great meals and helps me with my homework. She is the least selfish person because she puts everyone before herself. She loves my dad, my sisters and me to pieces and will do anything for us. She also loves baking, going shopping, going to the beach and watching movies with me.

My mom rocks! Happy Mother's Day. I love you! Jackie Paul Agoura Hills

Our mom is truly the best mom ever. She has a beautiful soul. She takes care of us when we are sick. When our mommy cooks dinner for our family she makes the most delicious food ever. Mommy is wonderful at jokes and is very smart. She helps us with our homework when we have trouble.

Mommy is also very pretty and caring. She is always there to pick us up from school and asks us how our day was. She also plays arts and crafts with us. Happy Mother's Day, Mommy! We love you! Lexie and Abbie Paul Agoura Hills

There are many special people out in the world. There's only one out of a million you will hear about today, and that's my mom. First, she is very smart. She always helps me when I need it if she can.

Second, she has a great appearance. She has brown eyes, blonde hair and freckles.

Third, she is very kind. She helps me with homework, cleans my room and more. Finally, I love her! She is the best mom in the world galaxy. I wouldn't choose any other mother ever. Jillian O'Meara Agoura Hills

When monsters prance And demons dance Away from the land of the Unwaking She banishes them With a firm, gentle hand From the darkness whence they had come

When evil talks And starlight mocks She silences their lying mutters And teasing utters Back into their throats

When the unseen blade Slices deeper than any knife Without any aid She treats the pain And cleans the unwanted disdain Exiling all strife

From wiping my tears

To frightening away my fears The list goes on And beyond And beyond Etta D'Orazio, 12 Agoura Hills

I have learned about friendship from my mother, Ruth, who soon will be 88. My mother doesn't remember her birth date or how old she will be. However, my mother's best friend, Louise, will remember- and Louise will call my mother as she has done for decades.

Louise and my mother lived across the street from each other in a small town in Montana. After high school, these friends went to the University of Minnesota, joined the same sorority. Then they got married, had children and exchanged Christmas cards.

Now I will dial the phone numbers so these old friends continue to connect- in May and January- on their birthdays. Jean Gilbert Hawkins Agoura Hills

Mommy, I love you because you're so pretty and so sweet, and I love you so much because you help me a lot. You are so sweet you remind me of seagulls. James G., 6 Oak Park

Galina, no one makes better latkes than you do. Happy Mother's Day! Fima, Karen, Melanie and Michelle Vaisman Agoura Hills

I'm writing to you again this year regarding my mother, Charleen, who passed away in June 2006. I still can't believe that she is gone, but every day I am reminded of her. She was always there for me and always put everyone else before herself, including her animals. She had grace and class in everything that she did.

She raised my brother and me, and we have become very strong because of her- I know she is proud of that. Mom, we miss you everyday, and we will never ever forget you. I love you! Keri Staley Agoura

Our mom is the best, most wonderful mom in the history of moms. She is always there when we need help and luckily always prepared. One time we heard a saying that said, "Everything you are is what we love." We want you to know this Mother's Day that she is the best mommy in the world! Jenna, Margot and Luke Meyers Oak Park

My mom, Rita, is a great lady. She has always been there for me when I needed advice or support. I have the pleasure of seeing and talking with her on a weekly basis most of my life. We have had many adventures over the last 50+ years. I love you, Mom. Have a wonderful Mother's Day 2008. Brian Mattson Oak Park

I think my mom is the best. She taught me to try my best in everything I do. In spelling, she tells me to study hard and work hard. She teaches me strategies for a problem I don't get. She taught me how to multiply, divide, subtract and add. She also taught me to get along and share. She taught me that "sharing is caring." I love her! Zafar Calabasas

I think my mom has a lot of talents. I am proud that she is mine. She taught me how to shop. Shopping is super fun, but it's even more fun with my mom by my side! It is fun when we look for clothes and jewelry. She also taught me how to write my name. It took me a long time to learn, but it's worth it. Most importantly, she taught me how to study hard. I love you, Mommy. Alexandra Bell Canyon

My mom is very sweet and has a big heart. My mom taught me how to make delicious blueberry muffins. I now get the ingredients, heat up the oven and start baking by myself. But I could not have done it without my mom. Next, my mom taught me that life isn't always fair. One time I wanted to play this really cool game on my brother's Leapster, but I had to do homework. I agree with her. My mom rocks!

Abbie

I think my mom is thoughtful and smart. She taught me to bake cookies, cakes and muffins. They're delicious! She also taught me to ride my bike. But here's the bad thing- I fell off a couple of times. Another thing she taught me to do is share. I didn't like to share at first, but then I liked it. Lastly, she taught me how to swim. I liked to swim when I got the hang of it. So Happy Mother's Day. Emma Calabasas

I think my mom is the sweetest and the most amazing person who ever lived. She taught me really important things about life. One thing my mommy taught me is to make good choices everywhere I go. Another thing she taught me is to never ever talk to strangers. The next thing she taught me is to try my best in everything I do. She also taught me to use my manners and always be polite. What would I ever do without you? I love you, Mom!

Taylor

I think my mom is sweet. She taught me how to walk when I was little. She taught me how to ride my bike when I was 4. And also taught me how to cook when I was 5 years old. Next, she also taught me how to walk and sing when I was small. And to use manners. Also how to get along with my brothers. She is the best mom ever. Celine Calabasas

I think my mom is great, and she has the biggest heart ever. She taught me how to not fight with my brother and sister because you know how we fight a lot. She also taught me life isn't fair, like if you're playing a soccer game and they call a penalty on you and you didn't touch the ball. Also she taught me how to write math problems. Next, she taught me to clean my rooms. Also to make good cookies. She rocks. Eli Calabasas

First my mom taught me how to talk when I was 1. She taught me to say "strawberries," which was my first word. She also taught me how to do multiplication. She taught me 6x6=36. She taught me how to dance when I was 2. She also taught me how to do gymnastics and to sing. She taught me how to ride my bike when I was 4. My mom is so talented, and I love her so much. Kaitlyn Bell Canyon

I think my mom is fascinating. She was the one who taught me how to do yoga. It all started one day when I saw my mom doing yoga on a big blue mat. "How do you do that?" I asked. Then she showed me how. First she taught me a bridge. She also taught me how to do my homework. She always says homework before playing. So I do my homework speedy quick, then I can play. My mom taught me many things. I love her so much. Claire Bell Canyon

I learned and am learning so many things from my mom. One thing I learned from my mom is how to talk; I think she said my first word was "mommy." Another thing I learned from my mom is that life isn't always fair. She keeps telling me to live with what I have. My mom has been there for me for all eight years of my life. From the day I was born she told me to always try my very hardest. I love you, Mom!

Cami Calabasas

My mom taught me how to talk and walk. One way she taught me how to talk was by saying the words and making me repeat them. Another thing my mom taught me is how to garden and grow plants, with soil and water. Lastly, she taught me to treat people the way you want to be treated. You're the best mom ever, and I'm glad to be your son. Cole Calabasas

I think my mom is smart. She taught me how to spend and save money in the bank. She also taught me how to tie my shoe. At first I could only do the knot. Then my mom showed me how to do the loops. Next, she taught me how to spell words like "dictation" or "special." I love you so much. Joshua Bell Canyon

One thing she taught me is how to ride my bike. When I was about to

learn I was so excited. It was hard at

first, but I got the hang of it. So then I kept trying, and then I got it. Unfortunately, I crashed into a big bush. Next, she taught me how to walk. It was very fun to first walk; like the bike I kept trying, and I got it. So then I was walking a lot, and then I ran into a wall. She's the best! Will Calabasas

I learned all the things I need to know from my mommy. First she taught me how to be polite and say "please" and "thank you": "Please" if I want something and "Thank you" after I get the thing the person offers. Next she taught me life isn't always fair. For example, I want a cookie and mommy doesn't have money- she can't buy it, that's final. Finally, my mom taught me difficult words- she is a spelling bee champion! She rules. Suraj West Hills

My mom is the best. She taught me to try your best in everything. Also, to study hard and be responsible about your work. In baseball, she's taught me to never give up. She also taught me that different parents have different rules, and they decide what's best for their child. I like that my mom helps at school, and it's fun to see here there. She's taught me that helping schools are important. Lastly, she's taught me to live healthy and happy. Jared Woodland Hills

She has taught me that swimming is fun and that you need to eat healthy. I also love that she has taught me to be tough especially when you have to have surgery. I love my mom; she rocks! Annie Bell Canyon I think my mom is amazing. She is very smart. She

taught me how to teach my dog tricks like "down" and

"sit." If I do something wrong, she will show

me how to do it. She also is an amazing

cook. She's showed me how to make

root beer floats, pizza and pasta.

She shows me how to make dif

ferent recipes. After school, I go

right to the kitchen and make

something, thanks to her. She's

great!

Jonathan Woodland Hills

I think my mom is magnificent;

she is very good at raising me. My mom

taught me how to use a credit card. I used

to always ask her, "Why is a credit card as

good as money?" I was always so curious

until she told me. Now I will know how to

use it. Also, she taught me how you build a

house. It's very interesting how you build

houses. She told me all the things you use and

the materials to make one. Matthew Calabasas

I think my mom is totally cool because she taught me how to bake yummy cupcakes. When I was 3 my mommy asked, "Do you want to make cupcakes?" I said, "Okay! But I don't know how to." She said that she would teach me, and I was so happy. My mom also taught me how to sing, and look at me now. I wrote my own song about a girl named Annie. As you can see, my mom taught me everything I need to know and way more. Elizabeth Preston Calabasas

I think my mommy is the greatest mom in the world. She has a big heart. She teaches many things. My mommy taught me life is fair and that everything will even out. She taught me to run, jump, kick a ball, brush my teeth, shop, eat, tie my shoes, smile at the camera, use a credit card, share with my sister and how to take care of a dog. She even taught me to ride my bike in the street. My mom is incredible, and I love her. Tyler Calabasas

Dear Mama,

I hope this letter finds you on the happiest of Mother's Days. I am writing to try and explain how much you mean to me. Quite a difficult task.

What is easy, on the other hand, is letting you know how much I love and appreciate you. Whether it's a comforting phone call or merely an e-mail, you always found a way to make me feel better. I'm sorry I can't be there with you today, and I hope you are in good spirits. I wouldn't have become the person I am today, without you. Happy Mother's Day. Matthew Loesing Oak Park and UC Santa Cruz

When I think of my mother, the first word that comes to mind is her energy. Mom turned 75 last August. She is a fabulous cook and cooks every day and shares meals with all of us. Her home in Westlake Village is always sparkling clean.

She is a part-time nanny to four young children who live nearby, and they, too, have come to claim her as part of their family. I am completely in awe and know that I could never fill her shoes. She's beyond great. Allegra Monina Westlake Village

I love my mom so much. She is the best mom ever, and I wouldn't want better. She always takes care of me, drives me places and is always by my side. I love you, Mom! Shayna Kudler Westlake Village

Mom, you are the greatest. I don't always show it to you, but I love you. There is nothing more in a mom I could ask for. I appreciate all the wonderful things you do for me. I wish you a happy Mother's Day and have a wonderful day today. Jordan Sloan Westlake Village

My mom is really nice. She pays money for all the activities I do, and she takes me a lot of places. She watches TV with me, and we snuggle on the couch. She lets me have play dates and sleepovers.

I am glad I have my mommy because I have two brothers and a dad. My favorite thing to do with her during girl time is scrapbook. I also like it when she tucks me in at bedtime. I am really lucky that my mom is mine because she is so special. The brothers and I love you. Julia Pearl, 7 Westlake Village

My mom is unbelievably special. She is a lawyer; she's written two books; she home-schools me, and she still finds time to spend with my family. I feel so lucky to have her around- supporting my goals, guiding me through new experiences and being there when I need someone to talk to. Between the secrets we tell and the laughter we share, my mom makes sure that I know I am safe and loved. Now I want her to know that I love her, too, and I appreciate everything she does for me. Emily Dinino, 13 Westlake Village

We love mommy because she is nice, and we like to cuddle with her. And we like to play games with mommy. And we also like to snuggle with her. We love mommy because she loves us. We love mommy so much. Mia and Max Reines Westlake Village

My two moms: My first mom passed away when I was 7 years old. I still remember how good she smelled, how she smiled, how she sang to me and my brother and how much she loved to shop. I still think about her and miss her every day.

My dad married my new mom on July 7, 2007. She smells really good and has a pretty smile too. She reminds me to say my prayers every night before I go to bed. I am very lucky to have a new mom who loves me as much as my first mom. I love them both so much! Connor Sheil, 12 Westlake Village

Not everyone has a mom they can call "best friend." I'm one of the lucky kids that can, though, and I couldn't ask for a better person to share laughs, stories, secrets and memories with. You're the ideal mom and I look up to you so much.

I don't know anyone that puts up with me as well as you do. And I'm so glad you're in my life. I don't know where I'd find another wing girl as awesome as you! Happy Mother's Day, babushka, I love you. Nicole Burns, 15 Westlake Village

My mom is the best because she scratches my back and because she is very nice to me. She reads to me and she does my hair in a ponytail before I go to school. She gives me a play date and brings me a snack for dance. And she plays games with me. And she hugs me and kisses me, and she asks me how my day was. She's the nicest mom, and she is very pretty. I love my mom so much. Danielle Burns, 5 Westlake Village

My mom is the best mom because every day she makes me breakfast and tells me stories. Once when I was little she said she would watch me at the beach. She put me on a towel with my pacifier, and I banged it on the sand until I fell asleep.

My mom's name is Ann, and her nickname is Anna. She has reddish hair and brown eyes, and she is beautiful.

She tucks me in at night and rubs my back. When I got the news about telling the world why my mom is the greatest I was excited. Jenna Burns, 8 Westlake Village

Mom, thank you for always being in my life. I am so happy you always take care of me. For example, that one time when I was rollerskating and I fell on my knee, you ran as fast as you could to get a Band-Aid for me. I guess I just wanted you to know that I love you no matter what. Happy Mother's Day. Jacob Tanenbaum, 11 Westlake Village

Mom, there is simply not enough words to tell you how much you mean to me.

How much I admire you,

How much I appreciate you,

How much I thank you for everything you have done for me.

I used to think that people didn't need their Moms so much after they grew up.

But I've come to realize that's not true.

Now that I'm older, I realize I need your love and support just as much.

And even though I may not always be good at showing it, I feel so blessed having you as my beautiful mom. Kim Reich Westlake Village

I've grown up in both the city and the suburbs seeing my friends' parents as "happily married" and always thought that that was how adults were supposed to be. In my case, my parents were divorced when I was 5 years old, and I was raised in the most part by my mom. In this, I was able to experience real strength.

I was able to watch my mom work every single day to support her two children and to work even harder to move my sister and me into the suburbs so that we could receive a good education and grow up in a safe environment. She gave me the greatest gift a mother could possibly give, and I would like to thank her for that.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom. Jordan Wright Westlake Village

The reason why my mom is the greatest is because I can tell her anything and everything. She is so understanding and always tucks me in to sleep.

One thing I enjoy the most with her is going shopping, but I'm sure every girl loves to do that. I also help her cook dinner sometimes, which is a blast!

We always get comments saying that I'm her "mini me," which is a compliment. All in all, happy Mother's Day, Mom. I love you more than you know. Briana Burns Westlake Village

Every kid in the world would say their mom is the best, but my mom is truly phenomenal. My mom cures me of every sickness I've ever had. She would do anything for me to the extent of even risking her life for me. I feel her support in all that I do. When I play soccer, she goes to all my games and helps me attain my goals. The title of "The World's Best Mom" goes to my mom every second of every day. I love my mom and nothing, nothing will ever change that.

Piper Pugh, 11

Good times and bad, through thick and thin, my mom is the best! She is compassionate, and whenever I need her she's there for me. She stands up for me in whatever situation I'm going through. I'm so grateful to have her as my mom. I love making her laugh, and the sound of laughter fills our house with joy. I love my mom, and she loves me. Out of all the moms in the world, mine's the best.

Carina Fasano

Everybody says that their mom is the best, but I truly believe my mom is the greatest. Many words that can describe my mom include funny, outgoing, giving and nice.

Once my family was at a restaurant, and my mom started a food fight, and it was extremely funny. I love my mom so much, and I appreciate that she is always there to help and care for me.

Jake Sabat

Every child in the world thinks their mom is the best, but they have not seen my mom. She is truly the best. One day, my mom felt ill, but she refused to miss my gymnastics meet. Another time, before Outdoor Ed., she was busy packing my luggage and getting worried, but I told her to stop worrying. She replied that she was going to miss me a bunch and wanted me to have a great time. What a noble mom I have, and I love spending time with her.

Nikita Iyer

Since I was born, my mom has been the kindest and most courageous mom out of all the mothers I know. When I was only 3 years old my mom jumped in a deep pool in Hawaii to save me, even though she was fully dressed in her regular clothes. Even though my mom is an adult, she still has a silly side to her that I love. I am very lucky to have her as my mom.

Simon Woo

Every mom would risk their life for their son or daughter. When I was 5 years old I fell into the deep end of the pool, and my mom jumped in with her clothes on and saved me. Every Valentine's Day we give her a generous gift, and on Mother's Day we make a five-star meal for her in bed. My mom might not be the best mom in the world, but to me she's the best, and I will always love her.

Kai Gomez

My mom is the nicest person I have ever known. Recently I went on a school field trip to the Reagan Library. When I got on the busy I noticed my lunch was missing! I called home, and my mom told me not to worry. She drove all the way to the museum to bring me my lunch. She got to the museum and was extremely stressed. It was worth it because she is the best cook alive. She has four children, including me, which is hard, but she manages to help all of us. That surely proves why she is the best. Alec Forston

My mom is the top because she always gives me the most superlative stuff, even though she can't always afford it. She does the best she can to help my brother and me with our schoolwork. She constantly lets us go and do whatever we want and is evermore celebrating our birthdays the finest she can. The greatest thing she does for us is taking us to Lake Tahoe every year to go snowboarding. We always have a great time. My mom is the best mom in the world, and I'm extremely lucky to have her.

Gregory Balke

Every time my mom does something I thank her, but when I look back at what she's done for me, I realize I owe her more than a "thank you." My wonderful mom is always there for me whenever I need her. If I am ever down, she is always prepared to cheer me up! Also, she supports my brother and me in whatever we do and encourages us to reach for our dreams. Even though my mom and I have our ups and downs, she will always have a special place in my heart.

Ariana Ghovanlo

My mom is the grandest mom I know. My mom is so great because she will do anything, including once when I was sick and I couldn't get up, she did everything for me. She's always by my side when I need her, helping or just making me laugh. My mom supports me in whatever I do: sports, dance and plays. Whenever we go shopping together she never buys anything for herself and everything for me. I'm so happy I have my mom in my life. She can do anything my dad can't do. I'm so cheerful she's with me.

Taylor D'Ambrosio

Every kid in the world says their mom is the best, but I know my mom is the best. Once on July 4 my mom thought she heard gunshots, and she jumped on me to protect me. We found out they were just poppers, but now I know she would really jump a bullet for me. My mom likes to have fun, but she also does a lot of stuff for me. I love and appreciate my mom for all the generous and loving things she does!

Matthew Silano

I love my mom because once when I got a little cut in preschool she went all the way from her work to pick me up. I appreciate that she also brings me to school every day.

Also she makes my lunch that is delicious and healthy. Her snacks are outstanding, too. Another time I forgot a simple folder, and my mom took the time to go home, get my folder and come back. These are some of the many reasons why I love my mom.

Aidan

My mom is the greatest mom ever because when I'm sick she takes care of me. She also rescues dogs on the street, calls the owner and then she brings the dog to their home.

She's also full of surprises. Once time I was watching TV at night, and she came in with our new puppy in her hands.

Also, once when I came home from school I found a pet frog on the counter. My mom tires to cheer me up when I'm crying, like when my pet frog died. All of these reasons are why I love my mom very much.

Ari Cohen

My mom is superior to any other mom. First, cooking my favorite Chinese food is my mom's specialty. She also drives my siblings and me to our various daily activities before and after school. If I was in her shoes I would be extremely frustrated washing all the dirty laundry. My mom prepares me for adult life by paying me an allowance for chores. Lastly, my mom plays games with me and keeps me entertained. I love my mom!

Alan Gaul

Have you ever thought of the best mom to exist? I never had to because my mom's the best mom on the planet. Once I came home from camp and my mom made me biscottis. Later that afternoon she was going to have surgery, but she made them anyway.

She always makes me happy even if it means surrendering her own happiness. My mother would do anything for my sister and me. What I love most about my mom is how she makes me laugh, gives me hugs whenever I need them, and she is always there for me.

Mackie Lorkis

Every kid in the world thinks that their mom is the best, but my mom truly is the greatest. My mom is always there for me. Once she stood up for me against some angry English policemen in Britain.

She is there for me every single day when she helps me with my homework. She makes me laugh, and she makes incredible food. She is not only an unbelievable mother but also an outstanding friend. I thank her every day, but that still isn't enough for all she does for me. My mom is No. 1 in everything she does for me.

Benjamin Shams

There are numerous reasons why my mom is the best. First, she helped with my free throws and I've improved, thanks to her. Next, when I get home from school, I always get what I want for a snack.

Twice this year, my mom forgot to pack my lunch. I called her on the school phone, and she brought me Carl's Jr. My mom is not famous worldwide, but she is famous to my family, especially to me. Jake Birnbaum

There are numerous times a day when my mom will give up something for me, and that's what I love about her. Once my mom was okay with giving up Mother's Day for my birthday because she thought that my birthday was something special. My mom has a great personality and sense of humor. Sometime I ask her to make up a riddle or a joke, and in two minutes she'll come up with one. If you ask any child in the world they'll tell you that their mom is the best, but my mom truly is!

Ariel Latzer

Do you like chicken fillets with prosciutto or delicious desserts like cookies or cake? My mom is the best cook ever, and that's what we get at our house. I love my mom's laugh, especially when my brother and I make her laugh- it's fun for all of us.

Once in Hawaii when I was 3 years old, I got my fingers stuck in an elevator as it was closing, and my mom quickly pulled out my fingers, and I still have all 10 of them.

I love my mom, and I want to wish her a happy Mother's Day

Alec Mandell

A lot of kids would state their mom is the best, but I know that my mom is the greatest. When I was 6 months old, I was falling off the light blue couch, and my mom dove and caught me.

My mom is very encouraging, including getting me to play the saxophone. She makes me laugh when I am miserable. My mom is generous, especially when she gives away some of our old clothes and toys. Awesome is how I describe my mom, and I love her.

Lora Mouradian

On Mother's Day I want to honor my mom for always being there for me anytime, anywhere. Proof of that is when I was little there was a swarm of bees, and my mom risked a beehive full of bees stinging her just to save me. My mom would surpass, by far, any mom if there was a Best Mom contest. She's affectionate, silly, fun, sometimes strict and most of all she loves me. Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Alexa Weber

There are moms in the world whose kids think that their moms are the best, but I know that my mom is truly the best. My mom is always backstage helping in the quick change room, green room and the dressing rooms of the theater. She sits around for two to three hours running around, getting me something to eat or going downstairs to get a costume. She waits until the shows are finished, and when it's finally over she gives me flowers and pretends like she's not tired at all. I really appreciate all of the hard work that she does.

Juliana Medof

No matter what's going on at the time, my mom is always in a good mood because she's so amazing. She always makes time to go to my sporting events because she adores watching me play sports. My mom can make me smile whenever I'm in a bad mod. She knows that I revere sushi, so we usually eat sushi together at least once every two weeks. She often helps me get organized and gets my baseball stuff prepared for practice and games. Without any question, my mom is the best mom in the whole world.

Cameron Leids

You may think your mom is the best in the whole world, but I know my mom is the only mom for me. My mom is always prepared when my family gets sick. When I was only 7, I had a terrible cough, and my mom made sure I had the inhaler I needed.

Whenever I am hungry, she is on top of it. Every night she's working for my family and me to keep us alive and healthy. I know if I am sick or hungry, she'll be there for me. I am passionate about my mom!

Larissa Hoy

Everyone in the world thinks their mother is the greatest, but mine truly is. My favorite attribute about my mother is her ability to cheer me up. One example is when my dog had to be put down. Later that night she made me pancakes and slept in my bed with me so I wouldn't feel alone all night. Also, next morning she was still caring for me by offering me kind words and affection. And to think she did all that for my sister, too. Imagine her running back and forth from room to room lovingly helping her kids. Joey Waldinger

My mom is the best mom in the world. When I was 6, I was diagnosed with diabetes, and for five years she's been helping me to take care of it. She helps me take shots, draw insulin, use my pump and test my blood sugar. Because of her hard work I can now do it by myself.

At age 8, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. That's when people can't eat wheat, barley, rye, oats and some flavorings and food starches. My mom is the best at taking care of me and my family, and I love her.

Ben Brook

My mom is fun to be with. We like going to the mall and other places together. My mom makes good homemade macaroni and desserts.

Tori Maddis

There is something special about every mom. They're always there for you. My mom has something special in particular. She is superwoman. My mom runs errands for our dad every day. She's an author. She created a website called Just Called for Humanity and she goes to school. But she still has time to wake us up in the morning, drop us off at school, take us to sports, cook dinner and do it all over again. She works very hard to keep us in check, but we have a lot of fun. I love my mom, and I know she loves me. I wish her a great Mother's Day!

Akai Floyd

Most moms have the ordinary mom life of getting their kids up in the morning, putting them to bed and fixing them breakfast, lunch and dinner. But my mom does all that with humor and with her unique style. While she does the laundry she sings at the top of her lungs. I wouldn't be surprised if a light bulb shattered while she was singing. When she cooks she dances to the stove or the oven or wherever she has to go while cooking. When you say something out loud to her, she'll repeat it but into a song. Even though her singing and dancing are off pitch and unrehearsed, she's still the best mom in the world. Abbe Boyle

My mom can sometimes be strict, but she is very loving. Whenever I'm at camp or away from home, she always writes me letters. I save them and keep them in my room. When my mom was little, she always loved math, so when I have math problems that I don't understand, she always helps me with them. My mom loves coaching softball for my team. My favorite memory from softball is having a water balloon fight. It was originally a water balloon toss, but it turned out to be a fight. I love my mom. She is the coolest person in the world.

Brigitte Poutier

My mom is the best person in the world. She does most of the cooking and cleaning. Also she helps me study for my tests and homework. She may not play with me like my dad, but she always puts me in a good mood. My mother is very helpful because when I am sick she always takes a day off of work until I recover. Whenever I am sad or angry about something, all I have to see is her smile to make me feel better. Her hugs and kisses are what make us a happy family. Jeffrey Choi

My mom came from a really big family. She had 12 sisters and six brothers, all from the same parents. She is the ninth.

My mom had a really adventurous childhood. One time she got rolled up in a rug by her brothers and was set in the blazing sun. They thought it was funny. She also had to get stitches in her forehead because she crashed her snowmobile into a tree.

My mom is special because she is Cooperative, Outgoing, Outbrave, Loving, Mar

velous, Outrageous and Magnificent. My

mom's the best!

Morgan Berg

My mom is an extraordinary person. Every day my mom takes care of my

sister, dad, dog and me. I would like to

give her a loving thank-you for all that

she does. When I'm hungry, she makes a home-cooked meal that is always amazing. After school, she does a difficult job of driving my sister and me to all our activities. A major part of why she is so amazing is that we think alike. Most of the time, we either jinx or do the same thing and laugh. It seems like my mom has eight arms, doing everything as amazing as she does.

Holden Chevalier

I love my mom. I remember the time we went to see the third "Pirates of the Caribbean" at night. I want to thank her for driving me to soccer practice, driving me to my friends' houses and making me food. I love it when she buys me things. I know she knows that I appreciate everything she does for me. I love my mom so much I would not trade her for anything in the world. I love you, Mom!

Garet Anzalone

My mother is perhaps the sweetest, dearest mother in the world. She is so supportive of me. For every single soccer game, my mom has been there kicking and screaming like I've never seen her do before. My mom almost always cooks my favorite food, noodles. She is very pushy about extra homework and piano. As a result, I have been an excellent student and won my first piano competition. No matter how tired she is, my mom always makes time for me. My mom is the best mom ever!

Beverley Loo

My mom is the greatest mom in the world She's always been there for me. Everything she does in her life is for me. She cooks delicious meals, washes my clothes and buys me great things. Whenever I am not feeling well, she drives me to the doctor, buys medicine and takes care of me. My mom drives my brother and me to anywhere we need to go. I really appreciate everything she does for me. She loves me and cares for me, and I love and care for her. I love you, Mom. Ky Feldman

My mom is so special to me. She buys me great clothes, makes my favorite food and pays for my basketball team. I love that my mom buys me clothes because even without me at the store, she always buys me really cool clothes. My mom also is a great cook. She makes amazing steak and chicken. I couldn't live without basketball, so thankfully she pays for my basketball team. If my mom weren't here I don't know how I would live. My mom is the great mom in the world! Brian Gallop
