Viewpoint seniors win National Merit scholarships

Cleo Handler-Jedrlinic of Tarzana and Madeline Schwarz of Agoura Hills, both seniors at Viewpoint School, were awarded 2008 National Merit Scholarships of $2,500 apiece.

"Both Cleo and Madeline are extraordinary young women and exceptional students," said Deborah Monroe, Viewpoint's head of Upper School. "It is wonderful that they have been recognized with this very important award."

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955.

National Merit Scholarship winners represent the highest PSAT scores in their state and represent approximately 1.5 percent of the 1.4 million seniors who take the exam annually.
