Derby winners are riding high

SOPHIA FISCHER/Acorn Newspapers SPEEDY KIDS- The winners of the Triunfo YMCA's annual Soap Box Derby pose after being honored by the Westlake Village City Council last week. The race, which included 125 participants from the YMCA's Indian Guides and Trail Blazers and other groups, was held in April in Westlake Village along with Healthy Kids Day. The winners were Sioux tribe members Noah Fischer, far right, in first place and Jonathan Pietsch, sitting in car, in second place. Mohican tribe member Ryan Bishop took third place. The car, named Herbie, was built by Jonathan's father, Matthias. Herbie has working headlights, brake lights and a sound system.
