The fun of Conejo Valley Days begins this weekend

The 52nd annual Conejo Valley Days festivities will take place this weekend and also Wed. through Sun., April 30 through May 4 with a variety of family-friendly activities.

The event is the largest allvolunteer festival on the west coast. Proceeds will benefit more than 25 local nonprofit organizations that provide needed services for the less fortunate.

•The Grand Marshal Race Final Countdown will take place at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Fri., April 25 at the Goebel Senior Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

•The Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sun., April 27 at Conejo Creek Park South, just east of the 24 Freeway on Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

•The parade, which includes local bands, horse riders, floats, clowns and more, will march down Thousand Oaks Boulevard starting at 9 a.m. Sat., May 3.

•CVD will take place at Conejo Creek Park with carnival rides, food for sale and vendors.

Hours are as follows: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wed., April 30 and Thurs., May 1; 5 p.m. to midnight, Fri., May 2; noon to midnight, Sat., May 3, and noon to 8 p.m. Sun., May 4.

Admission is $4 to $10. Children under 6 are free. Active duty military with valid ID and one guest may enter free on May 4.

Live entertainment includes the following performers: Billy Vera and the Beaters, 8 p.m. Wed., April 30; Micky Dolenz of The Monkees, 8 p.m., Thurs., May 1; Firefall, 8:30 p.m. Fri., May 2; The Grass Roots, 8 p.m. Sat., May 3; and Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show, Sun., May 4 at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
