Armenian church now meeting in Thousand Oaks

The Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura will meet at noon Sun., April 20 at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church at One Church Road, Thousand Oaks.

After the service a presentation will be led by filmmaker Dr. J. Michael Hagopian in remembrance of the Armenian Genocide. The event is open to the public.

The Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura was formed in June 2007 under the direction of Archbishop Hovnan Derderian. Earlier this year the archbishop led the ordination of two deacons and five acolytes from the community.

The congregation holds services at noon the third Sunday of every month under the leadership of the Rev. Hovel Ohanyan.

The church has a Sunday school program for children in grades kindergarten through 12, an active ladies' society and a nursery for infants and toddlers.
