Vons launches campaign to benefit Easter Seals group
Programs provide therapy for infants, children, special athletes

Vons is holding its annual monthlong fundraising and awareness campaign to bring opportunities to people with disabilities.

Through a partnership with Easter Seals, Vons plans to raise money to fund critical evaluation and therapy programs for infants and young children, aquatic rehabilitation services, inclusive preschools, autism programs and adopt athletes to compete in Special Olympics games throughout the Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Vons' parent company, Safeway, was Easter Seals' top corporate donor last year, raising $6.8 million nationwide in 2007. The 22-year partnership between Safeway/Vons and Easter Seals has raised more than $83 million to support Easter Seals services for children and adults with disabilities across the country.

During the campaign, customers at all Safeway stores in North America- including Vons, Tom Thumb, Dominick's, Randall's, Genuardi's, Carrs and Pavilions- will be asked to donate to Easter Seals at checkout.

This year Vons will use the funds raised to provide education, treatment, rehabilitation, educational programs and autism services to people with disabilities in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
