Agoura Hills Recreation Center kicks off strong spring lineup

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services has a full slate of events schedued for the coming months.

Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. For more information, call (818) 597-7361.

•Beginning and intermediate Italian Conversation and Culture classes for adults will start on Mon., April 21.

The beginning class will be from 6:30 to 7:45, and the intermediate class will be 7:45 to 9 p.mThe classes run through June 16.

The curriculum includes vocabulary building, grammar, conversation and two offsite excursions. Class fee is $120 and does not include transportation for excursions.

•Life and career coach Sepideh Yeoh will teach "Empty Nesters 101" from 10 to 11 a.m. from Tues.April 22 through Tues., June 10.

"Empty Nesters 101" will help parents create an action plan, prepare for challenges, develop ideas and build a connection with their college-bound children.

Class fee is $100.

•A "Got Life Balance?" class will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fri., April 25 through Fri., May 30.

The class, taught by Sepideh Yeoh, teaches adults how to experience balance and harmony in their lives. Fee is $100.

•Team packets for the adult summer basketball league are available.

The league plays Sundays from 6 to 10 p.m. and Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m. League play will begin the week of May 18. Cost is $400 per team.

•Applications are available for the Teen Volunteer Program. The program gives teens ages 11 to 17 on-the-job experience.

Participants will have the opportunity to volunteer in activities such as recreational classes, office work at the center or Agoura Hills City Hall, camps and special events.

Deadline for application submission is 4 p.m. Fri., June 13. A mandatory orientation meeting will be at noon Sat., June 12. Cost of the program is $20.

•The Reyes Adobe Historical Site is open for public tours on the second and fourth Tuesdays and Saturdays of each month from April to June.

The docent-led tours will be on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday tours will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.

Suggested donations are $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and $1 for children ages five to 12.
