Triunfo's Glancy dismissive I recently attended the Triunfo Sanitation Department board meeting to learn more about the fluoride that has been added to our drinking water. Like any citizen, I was interested to know the long term effects or hazards of placing an industrial grade (hydrofluorisilicic acid) fluoride in the water. As one of a number of concerned residents of the community present at the meeting, I was simply looking for information so that I could choose for myself whether or not I wish to have an unnecessary, potentially harmful chemical additive in my water. It is unfortunate that Tom Glancy, a board member from Thousand Oaks, was quick to dismiss our inquiries as "attempted mob rule," rather than to serve as a representative of the community. Unlike Mr. Glancy, Ron Stark made a motion to request a longterm chronic toxicological report from MWD (a report that is legally required by California law), which was passed by the board. That's all we are looking for, information. When you consider how essential water is to our everyday life it seems only reasonable to know what is being put into it. It should be noted that all of the TSD board members present were drinking bottled water- an ironic note not lost on this attendee. Wickham Irwin Oak Park |
