Swim instructor promotes book
Story helps children overcome fear of water

Professional swim instructor Barry Shrewsbury will discuss and sign copies of his new book "Luca Learns to Swim: A Family's Companion to Swim Lessons" at the following times and locations:

•Tues., April 22, 6:30 p.m., Agoura Hills Library, 29901 Ladyface Court.

•Thurs., April 24, 6:30 p.m., Oak Park Library, 899 N. Kanan Road.

•Fri., April 25, 4 p.m., Westlake Village Library, 31200 Oak Crest Drive.

The program will last about one hour and one book will be given away as a door prize.

The book tells the story of a young boy who is scared of playing in the deep end of the family pool but learns to swim with the help of his instructor.

Shrewsbury is a professional swim instructor who has gone to clients' homes in the areas between Calabasas and Newbury Park for 16 years. He has a master's degree in athletic counseling and has served as a middle school teacher, camp counselor, waterfront director and youth coach for swimming, water polo and baseball.

The book is illustrated by Kat Drayton, who helps children with special needs in her local school system.
