Mountains Restoration Trust announces summer discovery camps
Children will explore wonders of nature

Mountains Restoration Trust's Discovery Nature Camp is accepting reservations for the three sessions held at Headwaters Corner, 3815 Old Topanga Canyon Road, Calabasas.

Camp days are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 pm.

Each session includes a guided hike, related craft and field trip to Malibu Lagoon State Beach.

Dates and themes for the sessions are as follows.

•Session 1, June 23 to 26. Stream ecology, reptiles and amphibians, American Indian culture.

•Session 2, July 21 to 24. Paleontology, outdoor survival, insects.

•Session 3, Aug. 18 to 21. Geology, birds, mammals.

At the camps, children 8 to 12 years old can discover the wonders of nature by participating in entertaining and enriching learning experiences.

The science and environmental focus is aided by scientific tools, hands-on activities, crafts, games, and guest speakers.
