Latter-day Saints support Lighthouse
Shelter receives gift of clothing, blankets, toys

Women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park joined together to provide relief and support for the Lighthouse Women's and Children's Shelter in Oxnard.

Projects completed and donated consisted of 45 gift bags with new baby clothes and stuffed animals, 45 receiving blankets, three fabric bulletin boards and three large boxes of handmade quilts.

Donations of three large boxes of women's clothing, hygiene kits, sheets, diapers and food were also part of the service project.

"We decorated at least four bedrooms, part of a family room, provided a children's corner for reading and activities with a bookshelf, books, puzzles and bean bag chairs," said Shirley Hedrick, president of the LDS Women's Relief Society.

The Relief Society participates in many projects to provide charity and service to those in need within the community throughout the year.
