Oak Park boys' volleyball team stuns Oaks Christian With its best player hobbled by a high ankle sprain, on Tuesday night the Oak Park High boys' volleyball squad accomplished something it had never done before- the Eagles won a match at Oaks Christian. In a contest between TriValley League rivals, Oak Park (6-1, 4-0 in league) upended the top-ranked and three-time defending CIF champion Lions in four tough games 2520, 2826, 24-26 and 25-22. "It was a magical night," Oak Park head coach Patrick Quinn said Wednesday morning. "I don't think we expected to win because of our injuries, but still, we match up very well against Oaks Christian." Quinn's son, setter Adam Quinn, finished with 48 assists and 10 blocks despite playing on a tender ankle that he injured at last weekend's Santa Barbara Tournament. OPHS outside hitter Jared Furlong had 21 kills, while middle blocker Stephen Thompson chipped in with 20 kills and 12 blocks. Brendan Keane added 13 digs. The Lions (7-2, 5-1) play at Oak Park on April 15. - Stephen Dorman |
