Westlake hosts drumline

The Westlake High School Instrumental Music Boosters will host a Regional Drumline Competition from 1 to 9 p.m. Sat., March 15 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sun., March 16 at the school gymnasium, 100 N. Lakeview Canyon Road, Westlake Village.

The competition, sponsored by the Southern California Percussion Alliance, will feature students from more than 50 area high schools and community colleges. The event is also a fundraiser for the Instrumental Music Boosters.

Units are comprised of 20 to 30 musicians that perform using the same marching and stationary percussion instruments as marching bands. The participants march in intricate patterns while performing percussion music, and are evaluated on both their playing and marching.

Admission is $8.00, with children under five admitted free.
