School program makes good cents

Brookside Elementary School of Oak Park is one of the top 250 earning groups nationally in the recent Vons 10% Back to Schools Program.

As one of the top 250 groups, Vons has contributed an additional $1,000 for a total of $2,778.

Through this six-week Back to Schools program, the Safeway family of stores has contributed more than $3 million to support the education of youth across the nation.

The program allowed schools to earn 10 percent of items purchased by school supporters from participating manufacturers.

Brookside plans to apply the eScrip funds to support more than 60 different programs offered by the PTA, such as PE, computer teacher and lab, artist in residence, music, library, teacher and student aides.

For more information on supporting Brookside PTA, send an e-mail to Shanna Caputo at BESPTAboard@gmail.com.
