Families invited to Purim carnival
Game booths, rides open to community

The public is invited to an annual communitywide Purim carnival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., March 16 at Red Oak Elementary, 4857 Rockfield St., Oak Park.

The fair, sponsored by Temple Beth Haverim of Agoura Hills, celebrates the Jewish holiday of Purim, which marks how the Jews of ancient Persia were saved from extermination.

The carnival features game booths and rides for all ages, including a 22-foot high slide, as well as raffles, Chinese auction, face painting, pony rides, a clown, music and reptile show.

Among the 75 raffle prizes are electronics, sports equipment, restaurant gift certificates, hotel stays, theater tickets, and gift baskets.

The event draws more than 1,000 people, involves more than 150 volunteers and raises about $10,000.

For more information, call the temple at (818) 991-7111.
