Fluoride folly

Although the American Dental Association's position on fluoride (hydrofluosilicic acid) suggests they would be the main authority on dental health, they are simply a trade group with no medical expertise. Why should they be allowed to determine whether we ingest something that can affect us systemically?

The ADA has not conducted its own studies. They are merely endorsing others' endorsements.

Fluoridation is just a disturbing step in a destructive path to loss of freedom. Soon to come: mandatory immunizations; federal control of supplements, vitamins and foods; and socialized medicine.

Whether you strongly oppose fluoride or not, join the campaign to have it removed from our local water. The supporters claim our state and local governments are simply trying to keep our teeth healthy. Therefore we must ingest it, breathe its vapors and bathe in it? I am confused by the level of aggression in their passionate fight for fluoridation.

If you feel you must have fluoride you can purchase fluoridated water, add drops to your water or get a rinse from the dentist.

For those who do not believe in its benefits and choose not to ingest it, stand up and fight on.

The health risks posed by artificial water fluoridation are described in detail in the National Academies of Sciences' National Research Council's "Fluoride in Drinking Water: A Scientific Review of EPA's Standards." Stephanie Porras Westlake Village
