Religious scholar will speak at CLU

Religious scholar Richard T. Hughes will discuss "The Lutheran Tradition and the Life of the Mind" at 4 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 28 in the Roth Nelson Room at California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

Hughes is the distinguished professor of religion and senior fellow at the Boyer Center at Messiah College in Grantham, Penn. He is the founder and former director of the Pepperdine University Center for Faith and Learning.

He has written books such as "Models for Christian Higher Education: Strategies for Survival and Success in the 21st Century," "The Vocation of a Christian Scholar: How Christian Faith Can Sustain the Life of the Mind," and "The Myth of Christian America."

The talk, free and open to the public, is part of "The Reformation Heritage of CLU" lecture series.
