ISWest opens new center

Internet service and storage provider ISWest today opened a new 6,000squarefoot data center at its offices in Agoura Hills.

The center houses two 13foot-tall, 600-kilowatt backup generators in a James Bond-like high-tech security room protected by a biometric palm scanner and "Terminator" proof vaulted door.

The company says each customer is given an independently operated power system that ensures constant backup capability.

"It's inevitable that one day Los Angeles will experience a destructive earthquake or terrorist attack," Drew Kaplan, ISWest chief executive."

ISWest offers data recovery, web hosting and other managed services.
