Lilly's Academy of Dance competes in Long Beach

Lilly Alexander's Academy of Dance and School of Performing Arts recently competed in Long Beach at the Dance Xplosion National Talent Competition.

The 35 members of academy's competitive dance team competed in jazz, tap, lyrical and hip-hop. Twelve of academy's 13 routines won the Platinum Award and two won the Xtreme Platinum for the highest scoring routines.

The academy had seven original routines place in the top 10 overall category.

The judges also awarded special judges' awards for academy's hip-hop routine "Let's Go" (Stage is on Fire Award), the tap routine "Shake Ya Boogie" (Let's Have Fun Award), Sami Simon's solo "Rock U Senseless" (Powerhouse Award).

The academy's production routine "Secret Secret" earned the Most Entertaining award.

Two choreography awards were given during the event, both to the academy for Ahjalia Hall's jazz piece "Earth" and Jennifer Lettelleir's lyrical routine "Alone."
