Students become experts on Mexican history

      Gila Brook's seventh-grade social studies class had much to celebrate last Friday. The small special education class was transformed into a museum and the students became docents, expertly leading their parents, teachers and others on a tour of ancient civilizations.

Oak Park registration opens
      The Oak Park Unified School District will begin registration for the 2008-09 school on Thurs., Feb. 28 for kindergarten and elementary students in grades one to five who are new to the district. Children going into kindergarten must be 5 years old by Dec. 2 in order to register for school.

Honor roll
      Katie Bukowski has been named to the dean's list for the summer 2007 academic quarter of the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at Cal Poly Pomona. Students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 units of academic work for the honor.
