Members of the Calabasas City Council, as directors of the Calabasas Education Fund, presented check awards to the Parent Faculty Clubs of schools in Calabasas during the City Council meeting on Jan. 16.

The Calabasas Education Fund, a nonprofit benefit corporation, was established to help finance certain educational needs in the city.

The fund provided grants to the Parent Faculty Clubs to assist with support of school activities and programs. The grants are $2,500 per elementary school, $5,000 per middle school and $7,500 per high school.

Additionally, the fund approved support for the Title I students in Calabasas schools. The Title I program provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers of disadvantaged children to help ensure that all students are able to meet state academic standards.
