Reader opposes school due to excessive traffic

I applaud Jess Thomas, president of the Old Agoura Homeowners Association, for writing the letter regarding the Heschel school project. The Heschel project is one that will affect the daily lives of everyone living in the entire city of Agoura as well as anyone needing to use the 101 Freeway system or Driver Avenue. It will be a financial strain for the entire city and present serious safety issues if a disaster should occur.

The proposal of a roundabout on Chesebro is absurd. Driver is a two-lane street in a horse-zoned community. There are approximately 300 homes in Old Agoura (most of which have animals to evacuate in case of disaster), a Baptist church, Agoura High School, two preschools on the corner of Driver and Chesebro, and a senior citizen home. The only exit out of Old Agoura is Driver Avenue. It's inconceivable to think an additional thousand cars or so daily will be using it.

This is clearly a case of sacrificing many for the good of a few. I e-mailed Mr. Yaroslavsky regarding concerns about this project and never got a response. I for one will be backing the City Council to sue the county if that would be the only means to stop this horrific project.
