Adult classes to begin at Beth Haverim
Winter session starts Jan. 22

The eightweek winter session of adult education classes at Temple Beth Haverim begins Jan. 22 at the synagogue, 29900 Ladyface Court in Agoura Hills.

All classes are free and open to the community. Following are a few of the available courses.

•Rabbi Gershon Weissman teaches "Contemporary Issues and Debates in Jewish Thought" on Tuesdays from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Using modern and classical Jewish sources, he will look at the spectrum of Jewish responses to important questions facing modern people.

•Cantor Kenny Ellis teaches Intermediate Hebrew on Tuesdays from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Learn the prayers and melodies of the Shabbat service and hear the cantor's personal stories that bring the text to life.

•Weissman teaches "Torah Insights and Inspiration" from 8:15 to 9:30 p.m. Learn about the 39 books of the Jewish Bible.

•Weissman leads an ongoing "Lunch and Learn," a class on bringing the Bible to life, on Thursdays from noon to 1:15 p.m. Bring a lunch.
