On the lookout The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will join law enforcement agencies across the state as part of California's Holiday DUI Crackdown Campaign through Jan. 1 DUI/driver's license checkpoints will be used to pull impaired drivers off the road as well as insuring drivers have a valid driver's license. Motorists are encouraged to call 911 if they see a driver who seems to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A driver may be impaired if he or she is swerving, weaving, driving too fast or too slow, driving with headlights off at night, driving with a turn signal on all the time, braking erratically, straddling the center line, making wide turns or cutting the corner, or signaling one way and turning the other. Aggressive driving such as speeding, tailgating, unsafe passing or multiple lane changes may also indicate intoxication. |
