Another park might be better Watching the events unfold the past month or so, it appears that the city of Agoura Hills activated its damage control department in an attempt to quell the resident's outrage to its Talibanlike behavior regarding the development of a recreation center at Forest Cove Park. Can you now see that the city has already made up its mind? This is another typical ramrod action of how your city hall operates, without due process and comment from the residents. City Council, make your decisions on what the public wants, not what you and your egos want. The city spent close to $50,000 in hiring the same firm that designed the city hall and library to do a feasibility study (totally impartial?). They arrived at a subjective number-grading scheme which can be totally skewed to the likes of the ordering entity. The final scores overall came in at Forest Cove, 531; Chumash, 521; and Sumac, 423. With such a close and negotiable score result, does it seem reasonable that all factors were taken into consideration for this site, or perhaps was something missing, namely the public input. Nowhere in the report are the opinions of the community mentioned. We already have a joint community recreation center with Calabasas. Do we really and truly need sacred open space destroyed by asphalt and concrete? James Iwanoff Agoura Hills |
