Traffic laws save lives
      I would like to respond to Josh Goldstein's complaint of Dec. 18 that the sheriff's department is giving traffic citations rather than preventing or solving cases of theft and vandalism by applauding the sheriff's department. Vandalism and theft are property crimes while traffic citations are used to enforce laws meant to protect life.

Flush ordinance
      I am witting to express my disappointment regarding the city of Calabasas' recent proposal to adopt the proposed OWTS (septic tank) ordinance. This ordinance will require all Calabasas city homes with onsite wastewater treatment or septic systems to have their septic systems inspected and permitted every three years.

Furniture stores are less onerous than a school
      I am writing in response to Sandy Wignot-Isaacson's letter (re: Heschel school) for what may be a sensitive and controversial and yet very fundamental reason. The few details Isaacson inserts are inaccurate if not dishonest. For the record, the "slope" is not "to diminish the view of the school.

Trash talking
      I am very happy to hear we will have a ban on plastic bags. Now the recycling plant will have more room for the stupid calendars the city just sent out. This calendar is one big waste of our taxes. I got two copies, and both were immediately sent to the recycling bin.

Another park might be better
      Watching the events unfold the past month or so, it appears that the city of Agoura Hills activated its damage control department in an attempt to quell the resident's outrage to its Talibanlike behavior regarding the development of a recreation center at Forest Cove Park.

      As a resident of Agoura Hills for over 14 years and as a homeowner who lives immediately adjacent to the upper level of Forest Cove Park, I was disturbed by city manager Greg Ramirez's selfserving statements in his Dec. 11 "guest opinion" in this publication.

Stressed out at the post office
      I have lived in Agoura Hills for over 30 years. Am I the only person that stresses out every time I have to go to the Agoura Hills post office? On Dec. 15 I heard on the news that this is the busiest day of the year for going to the post office. I had a package to mail out of state, so I decided to leave and get to the post office by 8:45 a.m.

Suing the county not an easy task
      Last year, my pleas to Zev Yaroslavsky and his office were ignored while animals suffered and froze to death in Los Angeles County "shelters." Therefore, I joined a lawsuit against L.A. County and we were successful in getting a stipulated court order that forced the county to comply with state laws.
