WAGS softball is warming up

Registration is open for the 2009 season of Westlake Agoura Girls Softball. The season will run from March to May.

Registration will close on Jan. 10. Fees will increase to $210 for those who sign up after Dec. 31.

The league has been a part of the Agoura/Westlake community for many years and has developed into a respected girls' softball league among competitors such as Simi Valley, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks and Hart.

Many teams that have gone on to win district, state and national titles. In addition, many local girls have received scholarships and/or went on to play for some of the top universities.

In 2008 the 14U and 8U teams were district champions. The 14U, 12U and 8U teams qualified as state participants, with the 8Us winning all of their games for the first time in league history and the 12Us went on to nationals.

In 2007 the 16Us became national champions. The 12Us became district and state champions and placed second in the nationals which were played in New Mexico. The 10Us were district, state and national qualifiers.
