Las Virgenes Municipal Water District has announced a temporary increase in its rebate program for customers who purchase qualifying high-efficiency clothes washers.

The new rebate is $300. The previous rebate was $100.

"This is a limited-time program funded by a water-conservation grant," said Dr. Randal Orton, resource conservation manager for the district. "I would encourage anyone considering the replacement of a washing machine to investigate the qualifying machines and the terms of the program as soon as possible to avoid missing out."

New high-efficiency washers can save at least 30 gallons of water per load, as compared to older conventional washing machines. Highefficiency washers also require reduced amounts of detergents and use up to 50 percent less energy. Clothes also require less time in a dryer, saving additional energy.

Only LVMWD customers qualify for the rebate. Before making a purchase, customers should examine the related details of the offer, which can be found at www.LVMWD.com or by calling (818) 251-2200. Only certain models of the washers qualify for the rebate.

The district also offers rebates for the purchase of qualifying weatherbased irrigation controllers, highefficiency toilets and irrigation sprinkler heads. Special qualifying terms and conditions apply to each item.

Las Virgenes Municipal Water District serves approximately 22,000 customers in Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Westlake Village and adjacent unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
