The 15th Annual Newbury Park Adventist Academy Fall Classic

The 15th annual Newbury Park Adventist Academy Fall Classic raised more than $40,000.

The event was held on Aug. 25 at the Sunset Hills Country Club and approximately 85 golfers, including students, faculty members and local church pastors, participated.

The tournament was followed by a Mexican lunch buffet, awards and raffle.

In the last 15 years the tournament has raised approximately $400,000 which has been awarded to worthy students as scholarships. Roy Brasher of RE/MAX Olsen pays all expenses. Scholarships are awarded based on needs, and more than 60 will be awarded this year.

Brasher is a partially recovered quadriplegic who believes a Christian education helps students learn responsible behavior, and works to enrich youth and his community. "It takes a village to raise a child," he said.
