There goes the neighborhood
Am I the only person concerned about my neighborhood? I've lived in Oak Park for 15 years, and while I enjoy reading The Acorn every week, what I really enjoy is reading the Sheriff's Blotter and rarely seeing a crime incident in Oak Park.

Traffic tickets help, not hinder
Every week when I read The Acorn 's Sheriff's Blotter I see thefts and vandalism occurring all around Agoura Hills, including along Agoura Road, in Old Agoura and in my own neighborhood of Liberty Canyon. Recently my neighbor and friend was issued a traffic citation for failing to come to a complete stop at a four-way stop sign a block from our house.

Objection to Forest Cove
I was completely dismayed to read the Agoura City Council has decided to ruin Forest Cove park by building a community center on the beautiful rolling hills of the upper level. When my husband and I were looking to move to Agoura six years ago, we wandered into Forest Cove park.

Construction during a recession not very wise
Mayor Denis Weber, the Agoura Hills City Council and Amy Brink, community services director for the city of Agoura Hills, are determined to build a new 17,000squarefoot recreational center for the city. Forest Cove Park has been chosen as the No. 1 site to build on.

Council member seeks input from the public
I would like to respond to the anonymous flier circulating in the neighborhoods around Forest Cove Park pertaining to the upper park area being considered as a possible site for the future relocation of our community center. Contrary to the statement in this flier that this future project has some personal significance to me, the study conducted by CWA Inc.

Obama's team
As an independent voter, I am concerned about the selections Obama is making for various posts in his administration which informed sources are calling the "best and the brightest." Anyone remember those from the Kennedy-Johnson era— McNamara, Rusk, Bundy, Rostow, etc.?

Septic issue
I am very disturbed by the proposed Calabasas ordinance to license homeowners with septic tanks. The Oct. 28 meeting held by Community Development Director Maureen Tamuri, by all accounts, was a disaster. The city failed to make its case. Its "expert advisers" are the very people who will profit from the ordinance.

Let school proceed
I am writing in response to the ongoing antagonism of Old Agoura towards the Heschel West Day School. While this delay is occurring, several businesses have opened up and our local community cannot possibly support so many furniture stores.

Wrong size school
Heschel is not a good fit for Old Agoura. It is outrageous that the county board of supervisors is so biased to think this is not an environmental hazard—a lawsuit waiting for when children get sick because Rocketdyne dumped toxic waste on this site.

Deceiving poll
Using statistics generated by your own online poll in order to bolster your opinion that all but Old Agoura are in favor of the Heschel school project is preposterous. Anyone who has been online more than five minutes knows that these silly polls are quite easily manipulated.

Was city at fault?
Ms. Calhoun recently expressed her concern about access to and from the Old Agoura area in the event of fire. The fire and traffic problems problems would have been lessened by the construction of the county masterplanned Driver Avenue to its planned width of four lanes, plus shoulders, etc., requiring a 90-foot right of way.
