Park residents express concern
      I and many of my neighbors and fellow park-goers were appalled to learn that plans are underway to construct a new recreation center at the upper level of Forest Cove Park. This seems to have gone largely "under the radar" as most people didn't even know about it. How can the city plan something like this without involving the community and local residents in discussions?

Forest Cove under fire
      Judging by signs posted in Forest Cove Park and leaflets distributed throughout our neighborhoods, my wife and I were not the only ones unaware that a study had been conducted and a choice of location made for a new recreation center for Agoura Hills.

      I want to congratulate Oak Park school board members Jan Iceland and Barbara Laifman on their election to another term on the Oak Park school board. I also want to thank the community members who voted for me. I completely enjoyed running for office.

Old Agoura versus Heschel
      Over the strenuous objections of the Old Agoura Homeowners Association and others, construction of Heschel West Day School has been approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. But, that is not the final say. It merely completes what is legally known as "exhausting the administrative remedies.

Chamber president letter disappoints
      I was very disappointed reading Louis E. Masry's letter in The Acorn a couple of weeks ago. It's not about the school itself. I hear Heschel is a wonderful school, a great place for kids to get an education. The resistance is about location.

Threat of fire
      No one seems to care, not the officials of L.A. County, city of Agoura Hills or the fire department. The Heschel school parcel, approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the City Council of Agoura Hills, in located in land locked Palo Comado Canyon.

      I read the front page article "Westlake coping with new economic realities," The Acorn , Nov. 27, with both amusement and distain. Mayor Klessig bemoaned the loss of taxes and other rev enues to the "poor economy.
