Church of the Epiphany hosts Advent lessons, carols

The Church of the Epiphany (Episcopal) will present the Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols at 5 p.m. Sun., Dec. 7 at 5450 Churchwood Drive, Oak Park.

All three church choirs will combine for the performance: the Epiphany Schola chamber choir, the 26-voice Parish Choir, and the Epiphany Choristers youth choir.

In the service, scripture lessons are interspersed with choral responses. Among the responses is "People, Look East," with words by Eleanor Farjeon and arrangement by Los Angeles composer Craig Phillips.

A reception will follow the service. Admission is free but a freewill offering will be accepted.

This event is part of the 2008-2009 season for Music at The Church of the Epiphany, an annual series of recitals, concerts and choral services.
