Cartoon just doesn't add up
      Bill Stanford's political cartoon of Nov. 20 is supposed to be clever and ironic with "new math" that Oak Park school taxes are supposedly going up as family incomes are going down. His facts are incorrect. He does a disservice to the community, our schools and those of us who work for the betterment of Oak Park.

Economic history is doomed to repeat itself
      Secretary of the Treasury, Henry M. Paulson, Jr., spoke at the Ronald Reagan Library on Thurs., Nov. 20 and is quoted as having said that one cause of our current financial crisis is "outdated U.S. and global financial regulatory systems.

City stuck in a sewer squabble
      In the name of being "environmentally conscious," the city of Calabasas has targeted 100 homes currently on septic systems. Calabasas has proposed an unnecessary and extraordinarily harsh Ordinance to monitor OWTS (on-site waste treatment systems) that will result in thousands of dollars in costs to these few homeowners.
