Students fulfill Mitzvah promise

RAISING HER VOICE— Heschel West Day School third-grader Miller Friedman leads her classmates in song for an audience of more than 200 at the school's Mitzvah Day/Blue Ribbon Celebration on Nov. 2. Heschel West received a 2008 Blue Ribbon Award, making it the valley's first Blue Ribbon Jewish day school. On Mitzvah Day, students and faculty members assist nonprofit organizations that promote literacy by giving the groups donations and participating in various helpful activities.
