Student musicians record like the pros

Viewpoint School's middle and upper school orchestras recently recorded a musical track for a segment of Disney animation.

"The students stepped into an actual sound studio and participated in a simulated film recording session, complete with video playback, headphones and click track," said Dr. Kristin Herkstroeter, chair of the school's music department.

The workshop ended with a viewing of the student-recorded tracks, combined with each animated segment.

"It was amazing to have the chance to be in a professional recording studio and then to hear our recordings set to actual Disney films," said cellist Christopher Jobsen, 11.

The trip was organized by Viewpoint's music department through the Disney Magic Music Days program.
