Farmer's market? I'm responding to the Oak Park resident who wants a farmers' market. Come on, we don't need a farmers' market to buy organic fruits and veggies that will cure cancer, diabetes and other diseases. We have genetically modified engineered processed fruits and veggies at our big box strip malls. Fresh organic foods are overpriced anyway, and with a bad economy, who needs to spend a lot of money. I mean, nowadays farmers don't care about anything— they just want to sell their food and make a living. They're not there to chit chat about how to use a particular fruit or vegetable—they have a life, you know. And if you love coffee, we have many super-sized gas stations/ carwashes/mini marts all in one. Isn't that great? Agoura, Westlake, T.O. and Calabasas are known for that. You can buy a newspaper, candy and processed foods from their freezers while enjoying your delicious yummy coffee. Doesn't that sound great? Some super gas stations have a seating area, and while you sip you can people watch, read the paper and play the lottery. You can't do all these things at a boring, charming farmers' market. If you want cobblestone streets, architecturally appealing shops, a cozy atmosphere and flower planters hanging from window sills in narrow alleyways where people are walking about and riding their bicycles with baskets in front, then this is not that place for you. Maybe you want to look into France. We roll with the big cars and guns and use parking lots and freeways, eat processed foods at fast food restaurants. The majority of us are professionals and time is money. There is no time to stroll around. We have bills to pay and money to make. We work hard and play hard. This is new America. A.J.
