Winners of coloring contest named

Catherine Gronkiewicz is the grand-prize winner of the 2008 Calabasas Recycling Coloring Contest sponsored by the Calabasas Environmental Commission.

She is a fourth-grader at Castlebay Lane Elementary School. Her winning drawing will be printed on the cover of the 2009 city of Calabasas Community Recycling Awareness Calendar.

Twelve other students also won.

All of the winning drawings will be printed in the calendar. In addition, each student will receive a $25 gift certificate at the Dec. 2 commission meeting.

The commission received 320 entries for the contest. The contest theme was "Benefits of Paper Recycling."

Following are the winning students, their schools and grades.

Castlebay Lane Elementary School: Anthony Dersahakian, second grade; Jay Lim, third grade; Natalie Aivazian, fourth grade; Nicole Dersahakian, second grade.

Lindero Canyon Middle School: Laney Schwartz, sixth grade; Larissa Hoy, sixth grade.

Lupin Hill Elementary School: Khai Berry, third grade.

Bay Laurel Elementary School: Dorian Saisse, third grade.

Woodlake Elementary School: Jillian Gamboa, fifth grade.

A.C. Stelle Middle School: Megan Nison, sixth grade.
