Winners of coloring contest named
      Catherine Gronkiewicz is the grand-prize winner of the 2008 Calabasas Recycling Coloring Contest sponsored by the Calabasas Environmental Commission. She is a fourth-grader at Castlebay Lane Elementary School. Her winning drawing will be printed on the cover of the 2009 city of Calabasas Community Recycling Awareness Calendar.

Tree festival helps children
      Local volunteers from the Buena Ventura Childhelp Chapter will present the annual Festival of Trees Sun., Dec. 7 to fund their efforts to take care of 85 children who have been removed from their families. Childhelp is a nonprofit group organized to meet the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at-risk children.
