Give the new president a chance

President-elect Obama is soon to be my president and I give to him the respect his office calls for and my wishes for success.

That said, I am awaiting with interest to see if we have elected an empty suit or someone who can "walk the walk." The talk part is over and no doubt he is starting to realize that as he gets in depth briefings on the many dangers we face around the world. Life just got a little more complicated.

Time will reveal if we have elected a transformational person with constructive change as a guide or a person with socialist tendencies who reflects the policy of a weather underground terrorist and a racist preacher.

We should know by now that the main stream media never did "vet" him for us. They fell for him in a big way and displayed many examples of poor objectivity.

My hope is he will govern for all and keep in mind that 50 million Americans voted for the other guy. I must admit that I feel some hope as there is no doubt change is needed. He is intelligent, articulate and charismatic. He has the energy needed for the job at hand.

May he have the wisdom to be moderate and understand the government can not be "all things to all people." Cliff Hodge Westlake Village
