Season to give

Kinecta Federal Credit Union toasts the oneyear anniversary of its Westlake Village Member Service Center.

During the week of Nov. 1722, in celebration of its anniversary, the branch will be accepting monetary donations for a Holiday Food Drive benefiting 1,200 Southern California families as well as the Children's Miracle Network.

Visitors are invited to stop by the branch during regular business hours and contribute to the food drive.

Kinecta Federal Credit Union and its branch at 973 S. Westlake Blvd. is one of the nation's largest credit unions with more than $4 billion in assets.

Mortuary expands

Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park will host a dedication and ribbon cutting for the Garden of Reflections cremation garden at 4 p.m. Mon., Nov. 17 at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village.

Light refreshments will follow the ceremony.

Invited guests include city officials from Westlake Village, Calabasas, Oak Park and Thousand Oaks as well as Los Angeles and Ventura County officials, clergy and community leaders.

Garden of Reflections is the first cremation garden in the community. The garden is a 4,500squarefoot natural environment that resembles an English tea garden.

Faux boulders, niches, columbaria, pedestals, monoliths and family estates provide capacity for 1,038 interments.

Chamber scores

The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce was honored by the Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE) for the second year in a row at the annual SCORE Recognition Luncheon.

The event recognized local entrepreneurs and Chambers of Commerce that support and benefit from the services SCORE provides. Jovita Carranza, U.S. Small Business Administration deputy administrator, was the keynote speaker and presented the awards.

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide.

Doors are open

The Malibu Chamber of Commerce opens its doors to young professionals ages 18 to 40 at 11 a.m. every Thursday at the Malibu Chamber conference room, 23805 Stuart Ranch Road, Ste. 210.

The Chamber welcomes those who are starting their own business, working for a company or looking for fresh ideas.

The Chamber provides networking opportunities, professional business promotions and information on business development opportunities in the area.

After Five Mixer

The Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce will host an After Five Mixer from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wed., Nov. 19 at The Westlake Promenade, 140 Promenade Way, Westlake Village.

The mixer will be hosted by Caruso Affiliated, with sample food provided by Promenade purveyors and raffle prizes.

The cost is $2 for Chamber members and $10 for nonmembers. No reservations are required.
