Smashing success for Viewpoint tennis program
Crystal Arnold A week after the Viewpoint girls' varsity tennis team clinched its second consecutive Liberty League title, top singles player Crystal Arnoldof Woodland Hills won the individual league tournament with a 6-4, 75 victory at Warner Center Tennis Courts on Oct. 29.
"We are thrilled by the girls' success on the court," Viewpoint's athletic director Patrick Moyal said.
"We had five players graduate in May, but this season the team is performing extremely well. As the defending CIF champions, we expect to see great results in the playoffs."
Arnold becomes the second singles player in the history of the Viewpoint girls' tennis program to qualify for CIF Individuals. As a team, the Patriots finished the regular season with a record of 12-4 overall, 7-0 in league play, and head into the postseason ranked No. 1 in the CIF-Southern Section Division V coaches' poll.
"It was a great learning experience for the girls as a whole, and I am confident that this will only make them stronger for postseason play,"coach Travis Kikugawa said.
