Conserve, why? Almost every day I read or hear about a disastrous water shortage that is plaguing Southern California and that we probably will need to ration water and change our habits in the fear that there will not be enough water to go around. I then read that Agoura Hills has given the go ahead for the massive Agoura Hills Village development comprised of thousands of square feet of retail and residential space without any regard to where the water is going to come from to satisfy this development. Once again we see government at its finest with the inmates running the asylum. Our water departments must immediately ration water meters and come to terms with the fact that we are unable to absorb more development. We have to change how business is done as usual— it won't work anymore. I will be asked to conserve, conserve and then conserve some more as I watch 130 acres being paved over with a water hungry development that will only serve to line the pockets of the developers and delight the City Council for the taxes it will produce, but to the determent of the citizens served by the Las Virgines Water District Ray Kirschbaum Westlake Village |
