NP The Oak Park Unified School District school facilities improvement bond, Measure R, finally passed muster in Tuesday's election, proving the old adage that the third time's a charm. Ron Stark, who served on the Triunfo Sanitation District board of directors for more than two decades, lost his reelection bid to challenger Michael Paule. Former finance director and chief investment officer Kiyoshi Hatanaka was convicted of embezzling more than $1.7 million from Soka University of America and its former campus near Calabasas.
