Get back to nature with family-friendly events

Following are this month's programs sponsored by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and presented by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.

•Autumn-California Style, 10 a.m. to noon, Sat., Nov. 8 at King Gillette Ranch, 26800 Mulholland Hwy., Calabasas.

See colors and changes in nature. Parking fee is $5.

•Nearly Full Moon Hike, 6 p.m., Sat., Nov. 8 at the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve, at the end of Victory Boulevard near the intersection with Valley Circle.

For all ages. Meet at the Victory entrance. Easy walk. Parking fee is $1.

•Morning Birds, 8 to 10 a.m. Sun., Nov. 9 at King Gillette Ranch, 26800 Mulholland Hwy., Calabasas.

Bring binoculars for casual 1-mile walk. Beginning birders are welcome. Meet at the Botanic Center.

•Trail to the Stars, 7 to 9 p.m., Fri., Nov. 21 at the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve, at the end of Victory Blvd, near intersection with Valley Circle Drive.

Take a deeper look into astronomy. Meet at the Victory Entrance. Moderate half-mile walk for all ages. Parking fee is $1.
