Strawberry fest poster contest open

The California Strawberry Festival seeks submissions for the 2009 official poster contest with $1,500 awarded to the winner. The entry deadline is Jan. 5.

The poster will be used in marketing and advertising, as well as printed on T-shirts and promotional items.

The 2009 festival will take place in Oxnard May 16 and 17.

The finished product must be reproduction compatible and void of any writing, including the date. The year and festival logo will be inserted during production.

Judges will select the winner based on which entry best captures the look and feel of the weekend fete.

All finished art work must be 16.5 inches wide and 17 inches high, centered and mounted on a black matte board 18.5 inches wide and 19 inches high. Names and contact information should be easily viewed on the back.

Entries can be mailed or hand delivered to the festival office at 1661 Pacific Ave., Ste. 15, Oxnard, CA 93033. For more information, call (805) 385-4739.

The first place winner will receive $1,500 and will be the guest of honor at a press luncheon in February.

Second and third place winners will each receive $300.

Top winners will be notified by Jan. 9.

Posters will not be returned and must be picked up from the festival office between January 16 and 23. The original designs and all rights of the winning designs will belong to the festival.

The California Strawberry Festival is a nonprofit organization that supports fundraising efforts for multiple charities now nearing $3 million over the past 26 years.
