      Twenty years ago, Anthony Barton was a talented athlete on the rise. Coaches told him he might even be an Olympian. "There were people who could run faster than me and swim faster than me and bike faster than me," said Barton, now a 40-year-old who lives in Agoura Hills.       For many it was an eyeopener, the opportunity to visit the notsosecret but difficulttoaccess beach at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu. For others it was the chance to surf one of the best breaks in California on a day that ended up being nearly flawless—clear blue sky, south swell in the water and winds from the north grooming the waves.

Oaks Christian netters topple Oak Park
Lions' win sets up potential league title showdown with La Reina

      The list of teams with a shot at a TriValley League championship in girls' volleyball just got a little shorter. Although Oaks Christian went a full five games to get a win against Oak Park High on Oct. 2, the Lions had no trouble disposing of Oak Park on the road Tuesday night. Oaks Christian won the match in three games (2513, 2522 and 25-21).
